Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 2026

About these terms

These terms govern your use of Jack & Anchor, including boat listings, the marina and marine-services directories, The Logbook, quote request forms and the online shop. By using the site you accept them.

Our role as a marketplace

We publish listings and directory entries submitted by sellers, brokers, marinas and marine businesses. Except for products we sell directly through the shop, we are not a party to any sale, charter, berthing or service contract between you and a third party.

We verify listings before publication where we reasonably can, but specifications, prices and availability are supplied by the advertiser and can change. Always inspect a vessel, check its documentation and take independent professional advice before buying.

Accounts

You must give accurate registration details, keep your password secure and are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or are used fraudulently.

Listings and content you submit

You must own or have permission to sell what you list, and to use every photograph, video and description you upload. You confirm your content is accurate, lawful and not misleading.

You grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, display, resize and promote your listing content across the site, our newsletter and our social channels.

We may edit, decline or remove any listing or review that is inaccurate, duplicated, offensive, unlawful or otherwise unsuitable.

Featured listings and paid promotion

Featured placements are paid upgrades that improve visibility: priority position in search results, homepage carousel inclusion, newsletter and social promotion, plus extra photographs and video. Prices are shown at the point of purchase and paid promotion does not guarantee a sale or a specific number of enquiries.

Reports and quotes

BoatCheck reports, delivery, insurance and finance quotes are based on data supplied by third parties and by you at the time of the request. They are provided for information, are not a survey or a personal recommendation, and any finance or insurance agreement is subject to the provider's own terms and eligibility checks.

Shop orders

Shop prices include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise, and delivery charges are shown at checkout. A contract forms when we confirm your order. Consumer cancellation and return rights apply to eligible items, and faulty goods will be repaired, replaced or refunded in line with UK consumer law.

Reviews

Reviews must describe genuine first-hand experience. Do not post reviews of your own business or a competitor's. We moderate reviews and remove those that breach these rules.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape, bulk-copy or republish our listings or directory data, attempt to disrupt the site, or use it to send unsolicited marketing. Our brand, layout, editorial content and compiled data are protected by intellectual property rights.

Liability

We provide the site with reasonable care but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that third-party content is error-free. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for losses arising from any dealing with a third-party advertiser. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms as our services develop; continued use after an update means you accept the revised version. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
