Who we are
Jack & Anchor operates this marketplace for boats, marinas and marine-service businesses across the UK and Europe. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at hello@jackandanchor.com.
Information we collect
Account details you give us when you register or list a boat: name, email address, phone number and any business details you choose to add.
Enquiry and form content, including quote requests for delivery, insurance, finance and BoatCheck reports.
Listing content you upload, such as vessel specifications, photographs and video links.
Order details when you buy from the shop, including items, totals and delivery address.
Technical data such as IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited, collected through analytics.
How we use your information
To create and manage your account and publish the listings you submit.
To pass enquiries to the seller, marina or service provider you contacted.
To process shop orders, payments and delivery.
To provide the reports and quotes you request.
To keep the marketplace secure, verify listings and prevent fraud or misuse.
To send service messages, and marketing emails where you have opted in.
Legal bases
We rely on contract where processing is needed to provide the service you asked for, legitimate interests for verification, security and improving the marketplace, consent for marketing email and non-essential analytics, and legal obligation where we must keep records.
Sharing your information
We share enquiry details with the seller or business you contact. We use trusted service providers for hosting, database and email delivery, payment processing and website analytics, and they may only process data on our instructions. We do not sell your personal data.
Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your shopping basket. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. You can block or clear cookies in your browser, though some features such as the basket will stop working.
How long we keep it
Account and listing data is kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Order records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting. Enquiries are kept while they remain relevant to the parties involved.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction of processing, or portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests or withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
To exercise any right, email hello@jackandanchor.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
Security and international transfers
Access to personal data is restricted and protected by authentication and row-level database security. Where a provider processes data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the marketplace grows. The date below shows when it was last revised, and material changes will be highlighted on the site.
